Whenever our Burgettstown Knights of Columbus Council #3440 has raised money for worthwhile charitable causes, we have done so by sponsoring food-centered community events where our own Council Knights cook and serve the food to our guests. That was before the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID -19) pandemic. Traditional pancake breakfast fundraisers or chicken roasts will not work in the Coronavirus Age and are potentially unsafe for all who participate in them as the risk of spreading the virus increases within larger crowds. Therefore, our Knights of Columbus Council #3440 has partnered with Pennsylvania Knights West utilizing the Fund Crazr platform to raise money to support Catholic Seminarians within our region. A donation of $10.00, gets you 1 ticket. Our goal is to support two seminarians during the fraternal year 2020-2021. In order to do that, we must raise at least $1,000 ($500 for each seminarian). To request tickets, please contact Bob Kranak at (412) 217- 7297 or [email protected] (You may also request tickets through our Knights of Columbus – Burgettstown #3440 Facebook page.). Please make checks payable to “KofC #3440” and mail them to the following address: Knights of Columbus Council #3440, c/o Football Sweeps Chairman Mr. Bob Kranak, 3 West Market Street, Burgettstown, PA 15021. Due to our Commonwealth’s Social Distancing Guidelines, all tickets will be mailed to requestors and none will be handed out on Church premises. Donations received will be shared by the PA Knights West and our own Knights of Columbus Council #3440, with our portion going directly to support Catholic seminarians in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Byzantine Archeparchy of Pittsburgh. A few years ago, our Council supported a young seminarian by the name of Zachary Galiyas, who became the Parochial Vicar of what is now St. Isidore the Farmer Parish and a member of our own Burgettstown Knights of Columbus Council #3440. In the event that there is a truncated 2020 Football season or no Football season at all, FundCrazr will have winners by simulating games online to generate weekly scores for the teams via the use of historical data and combinations of scores for the past 5 years. The scores will be available, weekly, on the Knights of Columbus PA State Website along with the names of the winners for each week. The winning ticketholders will be paid weekly. This approach was used for the 2020 March Madness program when the tournament was cancelled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. For more info., click here.
