The Sacrament of Marriage is a beautiful bond in which God draws a man and woman together to form a communion of life and love, for their own good and for the good of children. The Catechism says that this sacrament, " gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved his Church ... [The grace of this sacrament] perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life." (#1661)
For Catholics, a Catholic church is the ideal place to get married. Getting married in God's house shows how important faith is to a couple. It also enables them to receive God's blessing, and all the spiritual gifts He want to impart to married couples. This help from God is so important for marriage to be successful. Couples who marry in church also enjoy all the privileges that come with being in a marriage that the Church recognizes as sacramental.
Any couple wishing to get married should contact the parish office as early as possible (at least six months before the wedding). They also need to attend a pre-marriage seminar. See below for more info.
