Walkers and Sponsors Needed!
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) will hold a local walk to raise awareness and funds for our neighbors in need in the St. Isidore the Farmer parish territory. We will start at St. Alphonsus Church with 8:30 Mass and breakfast and travel via the Panhandle Trail to St. Patrick Church for a celebration following the 10:30 Mass.
Funds are raised through sponsorships and a diocesan-wide raffle. Ways to help: 1) Volunteer to walk, bike, or help – each volunteer is asked to sell 10 raffle tickets, and receives a free t-shirt if registered before July 30. Call Irene Rosati at 412-977-4345 or send an email to [email protected] for more information. 2) Purchase raffle tickets from SVdP members, participants, or online at www.svdppitt.org. All proceeds from local ticket sales stay in our area, so be sure to designate the St. Isidore the Farmer conference if you purchase tickets online. Raffle tickets are $5 each. The drawing will be November 6, and the first ticket drawn will win $5,000; second place wins $2,500, and third place wins $1,000. 3) Identify potential sponsors – Sponsorship levels range from $500 to $10,000, with sponsors receiving recognition in diocesan-wide advertising and seats at the Bishop’s Mass and Brunch in October. Half of all sponsor donations stay in the St. Isidore the Farmer area, with the balance used to cover event expenses and neighbors in need throughout the Pittsburgh diocese. Even as the pandemic is subsiding, many of our neighbors are in continuing need of support. In just the first 6 months of 2021, St. Isidore the Farmer has distributed $20,160 in assistance for food, utilities, and housing needs in the local area. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT! If interested in volunteering for this ministry, please call Irene Rosati at 412-977-4345 or send an email to [email protected]. Our next meeting is Monday, August 9 at 7:00 pm at St. Alphonsus Church Hall.
